How to Change the Oven Light Inside Oven. Always unplug the appliance before you try to make any kind of change. Tilt the microwave back so that you can easily access the inside back panel of the appliance. On the upper-right-hand side of the back oven is a metal plate with two hex-head screws. The light bulb is located behind this plate. Loosen the right screw, but don’t remove it. Remove the left screw. This allows the plate to swing down. Unscrew the bulb. When replacing the lamp use a 25-watt T6-1/2 bulb. Reverse the procedure when putting the cover plate in position. Some microwaves still use a 25-watt 25T8 DC bayonet-base bulb; others use a 25-watt T6-1/2 bulb.

Cleaning the Discharge Air Vents. There will be a slight build-up of cooking vapors in the discharge vent, located in the upper-right-hand corner of the oven, above the controls. These should be cleaned occasionally. Do not attempt to remove the front of the two-timer control model as it is an integral part of the oven. Clean the air vent with a damp cloth.

How to Clean the Splatter Shield Inside Oven. The splatter shield keeps the top of the oven and stirrer (a fanlike blade that reflects the microwaves inside the oven) from getting dirty. To clean the shield, use a damp cloth to wipe away residue. However, if you want to clean it more thoroughly, remove the splatter shield. On the two-timer control model, remove the hex screws at the front of the oven. Pull the shield toward the front of the oven. When replacing it, be sure it fits snugly in clips at the back of the oven before replacing the screws. (Be careful not to damage stirrer blade).

Allow Air Flow Around the Oven. In order to work properly, the microwave needs to have free air flow in the front and back of the oven. This keeps the electric components cool, and from overheating. If air flow is restricted, the oven will not operate properly and the life of electrical parts is shortened.

Electrical. The oven is designed to operate on 115-volt, 60 cycle current. It should be plugged into a circuit that does not have any other appliances or lights on it.
