The below information will help you learn more about your dryer. This information will also help you to use your dryer in the most effective and efficient ways this way you will be able to save on utility bills and the life of your dryer will be extended.

WARNING: Do not take chances with your safety. The following tips are strictly posted for educational purposes. We strongly suggest not getting involved with any dryer repairs on your own. If you don’t have experience or professional training dealing with gas or electric systems, repairs on all dryers can become very dangerous. Call us anytime for professional help.

The dryer is usually the “companion” of the washing machine.

Therefore, unless you are purchasing a replacement, it is very probable that you are going to have the same brand of dryer as washer.

Wash the lint screen out with mild soap and water. Just for the heck of it, take your lint screen over to the sink, hold it flat and pour a hand full of water over the mesh.

See how slowly it goes through the mesh? If it’s really bad, the water may not be able to penetrate at all. This is caused by the buildup of detergent and fabric softener on the mesh fibers.

If water can’t get through, air can’t get through. To work at maximum efficiency, the air going through the dryer must exit at a factory specified rate. Build up on the lint filter will slow down that rate and cause big service problems, in addition to increasing the fire hazard.

1. Once a year, you should give the inside of your dryer a deep cleaning. To give your dryer the deep cleaning it needs, you have to disconnect the power source and either remove the front or rear panel of the dryer. After the panel has been removed, take a refrigerator brush and the hose from a vacuum cleaner and suck up all the lint that has collected within the drum of the machine. You will be amazed at how much lint there is.

Make sure to clean around the ends of the motor. Making these areas lint free is vital to the longevity of the dryer motor. If air cannot get to the motor, it will overheat and it will fail prematurely.

You are going to have to get down on the floor to do this job properly. Get a flashlight and shine the light into all the nooks and crannies of the drier. Where-ever there is a hint of lint dust, get rid of it.

The screams that you hear are from the service industry. If you and the other appliance owners would just follow this one piece of advice and clean all the dust out of your machines, you would cost the service industry hundreds of millions of dollars in service charges.

2. Exterior dryer vent flaps often wedge open. This can cause trouble three ways: #1 it allows heat to escape from your house during the winter. #2 it makes your dryer extra cold during the winter and adds to drying time. #3 it allows little critters to climb into the vent line. I have actually had to remove birds’ nests complete with little birds from dryer vents. Once a year, go to the outside of your house and check to see that the dryer vent is moving smoothly. Clean it thoroughly. It is important that the vent flaps and hinges are moving freely.

3. Take the vent line off and give it a thorough cleaning. You give thorough to get all the lint that has attached itself to the inner surface of the vent out of the vent line. Take the rigid vent line outside; take the elbows off either end. Rinse the vent line with a hose. Make sure that the line is cleaned out thoroughly.

Professional Dryer Repair

Anytime you find yourself faced with an important appliance such as your dryer not working properly, you can end up feeling as though your entire household is turned upside down. Having a properly working dryer can add a whole lot of convenience to your home and save you time and money from having to run to your local laundry mat to get your clothes clean. Instead of having to deal with a broken dryer on your own, you can think of hiring a professional to give you quick and efficient dryer repair.

If you want to fully restore your dryer’s performance, you will want to make sure that you have a professional that can work on it for you. Knowing how your dryer works and the best way to fix it can make a world of difference in the way that your dryer works once all of the repairs are done. Not only will a dryer repair professional know all about the different brands and models that are on the market today but they will often know little tricks of the trade to get your appliance up and running even better than before.

Some of the common problems that will lead a homeowner to a professional for repairs will be a dryer that is failing to tumble or spin, the unit not fully drying the clothes properly and even excessive noise that seems out of character for your appliance. Of course, these are just a handful of the common symptoms that any homeowner could be faced with. There could be underlying problems that only a professional knowledgable in dryer repair would be able to figure out.

Even though there will be the initial investment in professional repairs, there is nothing quite like the feeling of satisfaction that comes along with a dryer that works perfectly.
